The ingredients needed to make Pickled fish:
  1. Take 6 hake steaks
  2. Prepare 4 onions cut into rings
  3. Make ready 1 tsp mustard seeds (or jeera seeds)
  4. Prepare 2 bayleaf
  5. Get 2 cinnamon sticks
  6. Get 1 egg beaten
  7. Get 1 tsp turmeric powder
  8. Prepare 1 cup vinegar
  9. Make ready 1/2 cup oil for frying
  10. Take 1 tsp sugar
  11. Prepare Salt
  12. Get 1 tsp pepper powder
Steps to make Pickled fish:
  1. Batter hake with salt and pepper, dip into beaten egg and fry in the oil till golden brown. Leave aside to cool.
  2. Place the onion rings into the same oil pan. Add cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and mustard seeds. Fry the onions for 5 mins do not let it brown, add turmeric powder, sugar and vinegar to the onions. Fry for 15mins, must still be crunchy.
  3. Layer in a casserole, with 1st layer of onions, fish then onions again. Leave to cool and store in the fridge. Eat when cold.
