The ingredients needed to make Yellow Dahl:
  1. Prepare half cup dahl - washed and soaked for 20 minutes
  2. Take 1 small piece of ginger crushed/sliced
  3. Take 1 chopped tomato or tomato paste
  4. Take 2 cloves garlic chopped/grated
  5. Take 1 carrot finely chopped
  6. Make ready half red onion chopped
  7. Get cumin seeds
  8. Take salt, turmeric
Instructions to make Yellow Dahl:
  1. Boil dahl with chopped carrot in a pot for 15 minutes at medium heat or in a pressure cooker. Turn the heat off after 1 whistle in the cooker.
  2. Heat spoonful oil in a pot, add cumin seeds. add onion, ginger, garlic to it. Cook on medium heat.
  3. Add chopped tomato or 1 spoonful of tomato paste. Add half cup boiled water to it. Stir and cook on medium heat till the paste thickens.
  4. Add the mushy dahl and carrot to the paste. add 1 cup hot boiled water to it. Stir, and let it cook for 5 minutes on low heat. Stir in between.
