  1. Get 1 small bowl/cup moong dal
  2. Get 1 cup chopped methi leaves
  3. Take 1/2 tsp turmeric

  6. Make ready 1 1/2 tomatoes
  7. Prepare 2-3 Grated or chopped garlic
  8. Get 1/4 tsp grated ginger
  9. Prepare 2-3 dry red chilli whole
  10. Take 1-2 tbsp ghee
  11. Take 1/2 tsp hing
  12. Make ready 1/4 tbsp Jeera, coriander powder
Steps to make Methi dal:
  1. Wash and soak the dal for 15min. Now pressure cook the dal with haldi and salt.After 3 whistle switch off the flame.
  2. Heat a pan. Add ghee to it. Now add jeera, when Jeera changes its color add dry red chili whole, hing.Add chopped onion, garlic and ginger. Sauté it. When onion becomes translucent add red chili powder, coriander powder and salt- go easy on salt as we have already added in dal.Add chopped tomatoes, mix properly and cover the pan with a lid and cook till tomatoes are done. Now add methi leaves and cook for few minutes. Leaves will become soft.
  3. Now add cooked dal to it.Adjust the consistency of the dal by adding water if it’s too thick. Cook on medium flame. Once it comes to boil switch of the gas. Add one tbsp of ghee. And cover the lid. Ghee will melt. Dal is ready to serve with steamed rice or Jeera rice.
