The ingredients needed to make Dal Palak:

  2. Take 1 bowl Gram dal (chana)
  3. Get 2 1/2 bowl water
  4. Prepare To taste salt

  6. Get 200 gm palak (Spinach)
  7. Prepare For seasoning :
  8. Prepare 1 tbsp pure ghee
  9. Take 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  10. Prepare 4-6 pods garlic
  11. Prepare 1 inch piece grated ginger
  12. Prepare 1 onion
  13. Take 1 Tomato
  14. Take 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  15. Take 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  16. Take 1/4 tsp coriander seeds powder
  17. Make ready 1/4 tsp garam masala
Steps to make Dal Palak:
  1. Wash and rinse.Chana dal put it in pressure cooker. Add water, turmeric and salt pressure cook for 5 minutes after first whistle. Let pressure releases automatically.
  2. Wash and clean spinach. Dry it on kitchen towel. Chop nicely.
  3. Add chopped spinach in dal cooker. Mix. Adjust the consistency of water by adding a little water and plce the lid and pressure cook again till 4-6 whistles.
  4. Chop onion, ginger chilli and garlic. Grate tomato and make a puree.
  5. Heat ghee in a wok. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter put grated garlic and saute for 1 minute.
  6. Add ginger and saute for 1 minute. Add onion and saute till it turn pinkish.
  7. Add tomato puree and green chilli. Sauté till oil leaves the sides. Add red chilli powder, turmeric coriander seeds powder and garam masala and mix. Add dal and spinach mixture.
  8. Mix it and let it simmer on low flame for 7-8 minutes till tadka mix well with dal. Switch off the flame.
  9. Serve hot with chapatti or rice.
