The ingredients needed to make Dal Makhni:
  1. Take 1 cup urad dal sabut (whole)
  2. Get 1/4 cup rajma (red kidney beans)
  3. Make ready to taste Salt
  4. Get 1 tbsp ghee
  5. Get 3 tbsp butter
  6. Get 2 onions medium size
  7. Take 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  8. Take 1/2 cup tomato puree
  9. Prepare 1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  10. Make ready 1/2 tsp garam masala
  11. Prepare 1/4 cup cream
  12. Take Pinch hing/asafoetida
  13. Prepare 1 tsp cumin seeds
  14. Take 1 bay leaf
Instructions to make Dal Makhni:
  1. Soak urad dal n rajma overnight.
  2. Drain water n transfer dal n rajma to a pressure cooker with 1 tsp salt n around 3 to 4 cups of water.
  3. Pressure cook on high flam for 8 to 9 whistles, then on lower heat for 15 mins.
  4. The dal n rajma should be cooked completely mash them.
  5. Now in a pot heat 2 tbsp of butter n 1 tbsp of ghee when heated add bay leaf, ghing, cumin seeds, n finely chopped onions stir till golden brown add ginger garlic paste n cook for few seconds.
  6. Add tomato puree give a gud mix until the puree mix well with masala, add in dal,garam masala, Kashmiri red chilli powder n salt mix well add 1/2 to 1 cup of water stir well n let it cook for another few mins.
  7. Now add remaining butter n cream to it dal makhni is ready serve with some more butter in it.
