Instructions to make Rava Khicadi:
  1. Dry roast rava for a few minutes in a pan until nice aroma comes. Roast it in medium-low flame to avoid burning. Keep aside.
  2. Heat a pan with oil, when it's hot add mustard seeds, when it splutters add cumin seeds, urad Dhal, curry leaves. After the urad dhal turns brown, add ginger sauté well, then add sliced onions, slit green chillies stir well until the onions turn translucent. You can a pinch of salt to make the onions cook little more faster.
  3. Add chopped carrot and thawed peas, I used frozen peas. If using the dry variety then u must soak it in water overnight and cook them separately before adding at this stage, stir well. Add turmeric powder and chopped tomato. Stir well.
  4. Add chopped coriander leaves, mint leaves, required salt and mix well. Cover the pan and cook until the tomatoes turns mushy. Also keep the flame in medium low.
  5. Once the tomatoes are cooked add 2 cups of boiling water (you can also heat the water in microwave). The ratio is 1:2, add according to the amount of rava you have taken. Once it reaches rolling boil keep the flame in low, check for salt, add roasted rava mixing thoroughly so no lumps are formed. The water will be absorbed quickly.
  6. Close the pan with lid, let it cook for another 5 -8mins on low flame. Serve hot with your favorite chutney.
